We have reached the conclusion of the regular season in our league's fifth campaign.
Cory Puffett locked up his playoff berth back in Week 15. He is the only manager who has made the postseason every year of our league's history.
Stephen April earned his spot in the playoffs a week later, returning to the postseason after losing by 20 points to Sam Martin in the wild card last year, a disappointing conclusion to a very successful first year in the AOA.
Rich Blorstad, who struggled in the second half of his own league debut a year ago and ultimately missed the playoffs after a 5-1 start, secured his berth in the 2025 postseason in Week 17.
The final spot came down to this final week. Sean Kennedy was alive for it, but his matchup with the league's regular season champion would have no impact on his playoff destiny.
Instead, both their fates rested in Sam Martin's hands. Sam had a much easier matchup in the season's final week, and he took full advantage. More on that in our Game of the Week recap. Sam will make his fourth playoff appearance in the AOA's five-season history.
Stephen lead the league in scoring, earning his ninth career Rickey Henderson Award. His opponent, Alex Mayo, finished last in the league in scoring for the second week in a row and the 17th time in his career. It was the 14th time in AOA history the highest and lowest scoring teams faced off, and the third time this season.
This week also marked the 20th time in league history, and the sixth time this year alone, we had no unlucky losses or lucky wins. The top four scoring teams all won their matchups this week.
We'll start this week's recap the same way we did in Week 5, Week 10, and Week 15; this time we look back at team stats through the entirety of the regular season. You can use those link to see how the teams were faring in these categories at our three mid-season checkpoints.

William Contreras closed the season with back-to-back Mike Piazza Awards for Eric.
Jose Altuve capped off a very strong regular season for Cory Frontin. He won the Ryne Sandberg Award seven times in 20 weeks!
All-time H2H: Sam leads series 11-4
In the season’s final week, Sam controlled his own destiny. A win meant he would earn the AOA’s fourth and final playoff berth, locking Sean out of the mix even if he pulled off the upset against the league’s regular season champion, which Sean ultimately did.
Fortunately for Sam, he easily dismantled Eric’s dojo once and for all, recording his fourth highest point total of the season. Eric had a very small advantage on offense, but Sam took full advantage of Eric’s inattention to his pitching situation to build an insurmountable advantage on the mound.
The victory earns Sam a date with Cory Puffett. Cory has made the playoffs five times in five seasons while Sam has made it four times in that span, but this will be their first postseason meeting since Scully Cup I in 2021, which Cory won by a narrow 3.25-point margin.
Eric's top scorer: Paul Skenes, 10.65 points (1 start)
Sam's top scorer: Bryan Woo, 20.50 points (2 start)
All-time H2H: Stephen leads series 5-2
Alex's top scorer: Jacob deGrom, 7.80 points (1 start)
Stephen's top scorer: Shota Imanaga, 18.00 points (2 starts)
All-time H2H: Cory leads series 12-7
Sean's top scorer: Zack Littell, 13.65 points (2 starts)
Cory's top scorer: Abner Uribe, 12.45 points (3 relief appearances)
All-time H2H: Rich leads series 4-1
Rich's top scorer: Nick Martinez, 11.05 points (1 start)
Cory's top scorer: Jose Altuve, 12.75 points (6 games)
With Stephen's league-leading point total, he jumped right back in front of Rich in the final power rankings of the season, a week after ceding the #2 spot to his Wild Card opponent.
Cory Puffett leads the power rankings for an AOA-record 49th time.
Cory Frontin, meanwhile, is at the bottom of the power rankings for the 34th time in his career.
