This Week’s Results (overall record):
December 2, 2025: Wizards 102, Sixers 121 (3-17)
December 4, 2025: Celtics 146, Wizards 101 (3-18)
December 6, 2025: Hawks 131, Wizards 116 (3-19)
An 0-3 week as the Wiz dealt with the absence of Alex Sarr, which made for some expected porous defense for Washington. Hopefully the Zards' standout sophomore can get back on the court soon.
Normally a 2-4 stretch over two weeks would be nothing to celebrate, but these are the Wizards we're talking about. Let's count our wins and leave the rest for another time. We'll have plenty more losses to mull over this season.
Bilalcatraz
We've discussed Bilal Coulibaly's defense before on the Weekly Wiz, and his prowess on that end of the floor was on full display for both of Washington's wins. He locked down the Hawks' Jalen Johnson and busted up a few parlays in the process, and then faced maybe the toughest test a wing can get, squaring up with Giannis Antetokounmpo last Monday. The Greek Freak had his moments, but Bilal did an excellent job of slowing him down on several plays, including this play below.
Coulibaly shows great physical strength as he's able to stand his ground against Giannis, not allowing him to get separation and ultimately altering the shot, getting the early stop.
Bilal also showed his incredible athleticism, forcing Giannis left and hanging in the air long enough to swat this layup.
Coulibaly's defense was impactful off the ball as well, especially on the game-sealing play. Bilal forces Giannis to give up the rock, and then does a great job denying him the ball, getting his hand in front of Antetokounmpo for the steal and taking it the other way for the slam.
Coulibaly's offense is still a work in progress, but his defense is already having an impact. If he can find a role on the offensive end, he's going to be a valuable piece for this Wizards core.
Up Next
Only two games this week; a home date with the Cavaliers on Friday night and a Sunday matinee in Indianapolis against the struggling Pacers. We'll see if the Wiz can add another win.
See ya next Tuesday.
