Shoutout to the top performers of Week 13! Our own Eric Meyer won 11 correct picks thanks to the Monday Night Football points tiebreaker, which was not completed by our runner-up, BeenJamin18*, who would have gotten his second victory of the season, the first being our season opener.
This year we are hosting our pick'em contest on Sleeper, and just because you missed the first three weeks doesn't mean you can't still join and try to catch the pack.
Let's get to our concensus misses and lone wolf picks from Week 14.
*If you want to be shouted out by name, be sure to let us know who you are!
This week featured two games where the three of us were in agreement and went down with the ship together. Those games were:
Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns (-3.5) - All three Sportsballers laid the points, confident that Shedeur Sanders would get the job done. Instead, Cam Ward got his second career win, leading the Titans to a 31-29 win in enemy territory.
Pool results: 19% took TEN
Miami Dolphins (-2.5) at New York Jets - All three Sportsballers took the points, questioning Miami's chances up north in December. So much for Tua struggling in the cold; he wasn't asked to do much, but he had his best game in a month and a half and the Fins easily handled the Jets.
Pool results: 63% took MIA
We also had several games where one of us went off the beaten path. Here are those games and whether our lone wolf got the kill or unexpectedly found himself as the prey:
Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions (-5.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. The spread was a little steep for his co-hosts, but he made the right call. Though Dallas fought back from an 18-point deficit early in the second half to pull within three in the fourth quarter, Detroit opened it back up and won by two touchdowns.
Pool results: 20% took DET
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens (-5.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. Unlike Thursday night's contest, this one didn't go his way as Lamar Jackson preparing for this like a playoff game may have been the difference to give Pittsburgh the win.
Pool results: 67% took PIT
Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills (-5.5) - Eric really liked those -5.5 lines as he was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points here, too. The spread was just too steep for the outcome as the Bengals kept it to a 5-point deficit at the final gun.
Pool results: 67% took CIN
Indianapolis Colts (-1.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points on the road team. The Colts hadn't won in Duval County in a decade, and that did not change today as Jacksonville nearly doubled them up.
Pool results: 44% took JAC
Washington Commanders (-2.5) at Minnesota Vikings - Cory was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. A week after being blanked 26-0 by the Seahawks, the Vikings defense pitched their own shutout and JJ McCarthy had easily the best game of his career in a 31-0 shutout of the Commodes.
Pool results: 19% took MIN
New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. He obviously had no confidence in his team, but his confidence in the Bucs was clearly too high. Not only could Tampa not cover the more than a touchdown they were favored by, they lost the game outright!
Pool results: 30% took NO
Denver Broncos (-7.5) at Las Vegas Raiders - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. It was a nailbiter and the Raiders just did keep the deficit inside the spread, losing by a final score of 24-17.
Pool results: 15% took LV
Los Angeles Rams (-8.5) at Arizona Cardinals - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. It was too steep a spread for him, but he should have had more faith in the bounce-back. LA trounced their division opponent.
Pool results: 78% took LAR
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (-6.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. It was a close game and came down to a 4th down in the red zone, but the Bears couldn't convert and the Packers won by 7 points.
Pool results: 19% took GB
Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) - Cory was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points on the SNF road dog. Houston's defense was stellar and the offense did just enough when it mattered to go into Arrowhead and pull out a win.
Pool results: 64% took HOU
