Shoutout to the top performers of Week 9! RedZoneKillers* won as the only entrant with 10 correct picks out of 14 games.
This year we are hosting our pick'em contest on Sleeper, and just because you missed the first three weeks doesn't mean you can't still join and try to catch the pack.
Let's get to our concensus misses and lone wolf picks from Week 10.
*If you want to be shouted out by name, be sure to let us know who you are!
This week featured two games where the three of us were in agreement and went down with the ship together. Those games were:
Buffalo Bills (-9.5) at Miami Dolphins - All three Sportsballers showed they were unafraid of the large spread by laying the points on the visiting Bills. That didn't work out too well as Miami scored the first 16 points and never let the Bills record consecutive scores the rest of the way.
Pool results: 6% took MIA
Cleveland Browns at New York Jets (-1.5) - All three Sportsballers took the point and a half, refusing to bet on the Jets. That proved to be unwise as Aaron Glenn recorded his second career win as a head coach and the Jets won by a touchdown.
Pool results: 25% took NYJ
We also had several games where one of us went off the beaten path. Here are those games and whether our lone wolf got the kill or unexpectedly found himself as the prey:
Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos (-9.5) - Cory was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. The division game on a short week felt like a trap for the Broncos and it nearly was. Denver came away with a narrow win in a very low scoring affair.
Pool results: 21% took LV
Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts (-5.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points on the Berlin game. After twice trailing by six points in the first half, Atlanta was ahead of the spread for the final 33:30 of regulation until Jonathan Taylor won the game with an overtime touchdown to give the Colts a 6-point victory.
Pool results: 71% took IND
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (-5.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points. The Panthers couldn't get it done in front of their home crowd, losing by double digits to the Saints, making Eric's emotional hedge a successful one.
Pool results: 33% took NO
New York Giants at Chicago Bears (-3.5) - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. It was a close call, but the Bears scored the final 14 points of the game in the last four minutes to cover the spread by the narrowest of margins in a 24-20 victory.
Pool results: 64% took CHI
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-1.5) - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the point and a half. The Jaguars had it in the bag, never trailing until they ceded a 1-point lead with 37 seconds to play. Then, on the final play of the game, Sheldon Rankins got a takeaway and took it to the house to give Evan the lone wolf victory with no time on the clock.
Pool results: 34% took HOU
Baltimore Ravens (-4.5) at Minnesota Vikings - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to lay the points on the road team. They easily covered the spread in an 8-point victory after they outscored the Vikings 18-9 in the second half of the matchup.
Pool results: 50% took BAL
New England Patriots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) - Eric was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. Cory and Evan showed no faith in Drake Maye and the Patriots, but TreVeyon Henderson had his best game as a pro with two touchdown runs of 50+ yards to help lift New England to the outright victory.
Pool results: 44% took NE
Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (-7.5) - Cory was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. Perhaps if Arizona hadn't given up multiple defensive touchdowns they could have kept the deficit within a touchdown, but that proved too much to ask.
Pool results: 77% took SEA
Pittsburgh Steelers at Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5) - Evan was the lone member of the Sportsballers to take the points. It was a poor decision as the Steelers only managed three points before garbage time in a 25-10 loss on national television.
Pool results: 34% took LAC
