We reached a pretty monumental milestone this week thanks to Alex Mayo's team score of 154.97.
In the first week in AFL history, Evan Ash scored 149.90 points. It was the AFL record for single-game scoring until the final week of that inaugural regular season when Evan bested his own score with a 152.00-point week.
It's worth keeping in mind that we only had 8 players in the starting lineup for the first three years of our league. In addition to that Week 13 performance from Evan's own team, two team scored from 2014 and three from 2015 were higher than Evan's game in the AFL's first ever week, meaning it ranked 7th all-time entering the 2016 season ten years ago.
Thanks to Alex Mayo's big Week 4 performance, Evan's 149.90 point game was bumped out of the AFL's Top 100 team scores. That means, including the first four weeks of this season, we've seen an average of about 9 team scores of 150+ per season in the past decade after only getting an average of 2 per season through the first three years.
If you'd like to check out League Legacy's AI-generated recaps of all six games this week, and a preview of Week 5, you can check it out on League Legacy.
Additionally, I've had the site run a more in-depth Rivalry Spotlight feature story for our Week 5 Game of the Week between Sean Kennedy and Evan Ash.
Let's jump into all the good stuff from Week 4!
All-time H2H: Sean leads series 13-5
Sean was the second lowest scoring winner of the week, but this matchup certainly lived up to the hype of a game of the week. After back-to-back blowouts, and no games of the week with victory margins under 20 in the first three weeks, this is just what we needed to inject some drama into our season.
Will enjoyed a solid start to his week, taking a 35-point lead into the 4pm window of his contest. Joe Burrow and Zay Flowers led the way, though the latter’s performance was cut off at the knees when Lamar Jackson’s ankle injury prevented him from playing in the second half -- he and Tyler Huntley connected for -1 yard on two receptions in the entire second half!
The door was left open for Sean and he managed to pull back even with Will entering Sunday Night Football despite Courtland Sutton’s abysmal 1 catch for 4 yards on 6 targets in the mid-afternoon window. Still, both managers had two players left to play in primetime, locked in a dead-heat.
Sam LaPorta got things started for Will on Sunday night. It wasn’t looking good when he entered the fourth quarter with just 16 yards on 3 catches, but he came alive with two 20+ yarders and a touchdown to give Team Massimini legit hope entering Monday Night Football with Drake London going up against Bijan Robinson and the Falcons defense for Sean.
Alas, two Robinson touchdown runs in the first quarter, including a 59-yarder on the third play of the game, gave Sean the lead. While London held serve with Robinson the rest of the way, a putrid outing for Tyler Shough and the Saints offense allowed the Falcons defense to be the difference maker, helping Sean extend his dominant head-to-head series lead.

IR Report
In our league, any player can be placed on IR regardless of injury designation. Once on IR, the player cannot be moved, dropped, or traded for a minimum of three weeks.
After Week 1, IR placements are retroactive to the prior week as long as the player was already on the team's roster but was not in the starting lineup during that prior week. This means those players will be eligible to come off IR after just a two-week stay.
Competitive Lineup Penalty Report
This year, we instituted a new rule requiring managers to start a full lineup of active players. A strike system penalizes managers who leave inactive players, or players on bye, in their starting lineup.
Strike 1: No penalty
Strike 2: Fine of $100 FAAB + move to back of all postseason tiebreakers
Strike 3: Repeat Strike 2 penalty + move to back of every round of next year's draft
Strike 4: Dismissal from AFL
Strikes clear in reverse order, two seasons (currently 30 regular season weeks) after the first earned strike.
