For the sixth time in AFL history, we had three managers lose games as Top 6 scorers while three Bottom 6 scorers won their games. The juxtaposition between good and bad luck doesn't get more stark than that in a 12-team league.
The first time it happened was in Week 7 of the 2016 season. The second time was in Week 11 of the 2020 season. Then in 2022, we had three instances of this happening in Weeks 3, 5, and 10.
One of those three lucky winners was Evan Ash, who won the 15th Toilet Bowl game in league history. His 66.53 points was the lowest winning score the AFL has seen since 2016, when starting lineups expanded from eight spots to nine. It is also the third lowest winning score all-time.
On the losing side of that matchup, Eric Meyer scored just 59.00 points which is the fourth lowest team score in the AFL since 2016.
Their combined 125.53 points was the fifth lowest combined score in AFL history and nearly five points lower than the previous matchup-low dating back to 2016.
All-time H2H: Jeffery leads series 1-0
George Kittle got Jeffery off to a hot start on Thursday night in Week 6 with his two-touchdown performance against Seattle. Cole Kmet negated that advantage Sunday morning in London with his own two-touchdown outing.
Â
In that same international game, Travis Etienne finished in the negative by carrying three times for -1 yard before leaving the game with an injury, but Dak Prescott turned in his own abysmal performance in the 4 o’clock window for Cory. Lamar Jackson’s strong outing at 1 p.m. for Jeffery was offset by Tyrone Tracy’s impressive outing on Sunday Night Football in Cory’s lineup.
Â
It wasn’t the war between giants we were hoping for, nor was it a true war of attrition. It just wound up being a bizarre matchup with Jeffery’s win probability fluctuating between the high 80s and the mid 50s until the Sunday night game finally ended with Jeffery prevailing by less than five points.
All-time H2H: Series tied 8-8
All-time H2H: Series tied 4-4
All-time H2H: Brandon leads series 9-5
All-time H2H: Series tied 3-3
All-time H2H: Evan leads series 9-8
Free Agent All-Stars vs Tom Brady Award Winner
Every week, we take the best possible lineup made of players who were available on waivers in the AFL at the end of the week and compare it to the top scoring team of the week in our league. Included percentages for the Free Agent All-Star players represent the percentage of FleaFlicker leagues in which each the player was rostered as of data gathering (usually Tuesday morning).
Final Score:
Free Agent All-Stars – 159.27

IR Report
In our league, any player can be placed on IR regardless of injury designation. Once on IR, the player cannot be moved, dropped, or traded for a minimum of three weeks.
After Week 1, IR placements are retroactive to the prior week as long as the player was already on the team's roster but was not in the starting lineup during that prior week. This means those players will be eligible to come off IR after just a two-week stay.

Chuck Knox Award (Best Coach) Brandon Saunders #10 in his career
With one coaching risk, Brandon earned a league-high 13.37 points in Week 6. When Thursday Night Football kicked off, Anthony Richardson was projected to play Sunday afternoon and outscore Geno Smith. In fact, Richardson was expected to play up until mid-morning Sunday. Ultimately he didn't play, and so Brandon's decision to start Smith on Thursday night worked out in his favor.
Hue Jackson Award (Worst Coach) Alex Mayo #8 in his career (t-5th most all-time)
On two failed coaching risks, Alex cost his team a league-high 24.25 points and a victory. He started Roschon Johnson and placed a healthy Michael Pittman on IR, costing himself 6.25 points and ensuring Pittman cannot reenter his lineup until Week 9. Alex cost his team another 18.00 points by picking up Adonai Mitchell off waivers instead of Keenan Allen for a spot start.
Managers took a combined 13 coaching risks this week and were successful on 6. The league's net point differential was -35.85
To date in 2024, the AFL has a .494 success rate on 79 total coaching risks with a -159.14 point differential

Alex Mayo's league-leading active drought of 100-point games extended to four games
This is the 18th drought of at least four games in AFL history. Alex is one game away from equaling the longest drought of his career.
