My apologies for publishing this a day late. Working normal hours has disrupted my fantasy schedule from previous years.

Anthony Battle led the league in scoring this week, but was the lowest-scoring Tom Brady Award winner this season. It was a low-scoring week in general, at least in terms of our new scoring settings. Our first three weeks all rank in the top three in league history in average points per team, but this week ranks only 8th.

The Peyton Manning Award went to Brandon Saunders, who got some big performances from his players. More specifics on that will come at the end of this entry, but the win moved him into first place in the AFL West and handed Eric Meyer his first loss of the season.

The other undefeated owner heading into the week was Andrew Perez, and he lost to Evan Ash in large part due to Julio Jones. His 300-yard receiving day landed him 42 points, good for the fourth-highest single-game score from a wide receiver in league history. Number one on that list is Andre Johnson who put up 44.5 points in Week 9 of 2013 while playing for Danny Hatcher.

Meanwhile, arguably the two worst teams in the league early in the season faced off this past week. Nolan Soter got solid production from Demaryius Thomas and San Diego tight end Hunter Henry. Matt Jones scored 23 points, the third-highest running back total for the week, for Sean Kennedy but the rest of his team fell flat as he dropped to 0-4 and Nolan notched his first win of the campaign.

Not that it matters at all, but all six “road” teams won in week four. Only Anthony Battle put up a point total in the top 40 all-time. His 132.3 points were good for 31st in league history. Along with that accomplishment, Anthony was also the only owner with a top five scorer at every offensive position. Joe Flacco (3rd QB), Ezekiel Elliott (2nd RB), Antonio Brown (4th WR), and Jordan Reed (1st TE) were all big contributors in the win over Cory Puffett.

Game of the Week: Brandon Saunders at Eric Meyer

In a battle between the two strongest drafters this season, Brandon Saunders had some big performances to earn an easy victory over Eric Meyer. A.J. Green outscored Eric’s entire receiving corps while Ben Roethlisberger and Greg Olsen both turned in top two performances at their positions for the week.
