We had an exciting week of conference championship games and now it comes down to one final matchup, one more game to decide who truly led A Football Life in 2013.
Both games came down to the Monday night matchup between the Bears and Cowboys and each was decided by less than three points.
In the AFC Championship, Danny H. was out of players but held a secure 40.6 point lead over Evan A. But with DeMarco Murray, Alshon Jeffery and Dan Bailey still at his disposal, Evan was projected to score more than 150 points and beat Danny by roughly 20. But neither Murray nor Jeffery could duplicate the point totals they enjoyed last week and when it was Joseph Randle, not Murray, who scored the Cowboys’ final touchdown, Danny clinched his spot in the league championship.
Anthony B. held an 83.3 – 72.7 lead going into Monday night. He still had Dez Bryant while Brandon S. had Jason Witten and Robbie Gould. This game also went down to the wire, but there were no shortage of scoring opportunities for Gould and when the Cowboys yanked their starters in the final minutes of the game, there was no chance Anthony could close the narrow gap on Brandon.
Danny and Brandon faced off in the final championship of our old league and now will play in the inaugural championship of A Football Life.
Here are the box scores for each game (team names have been changed to the names of their owners):
AFC Championship Game
Danny Hatcher (11-2) vs Evan Ash (11-2)
NFC Championship Game
Brandon Saunders (6-7) vs Anthony Battle (8-5)
