Story

While this year’s title game was pretty close through much of the week, Rich led from the gate to the line and secured his first title after three years in the Aces Only Association.

The title game featured the best two managers from the regular season, and though Cory got the best of Rich three times in their four regular season meetings, a two-week heater came to an end in the Scully Cup as his pitching staff failed to come even close to the outstanding week they had in the semifinals.

Instead, Rich’s pitching staff was the difference maker in a matchup where the two teams’ offensive outputs were nearly deadlocked. Jacob Misiorowki reached double digits on Friday despite tying his lowest strikeout total since mid-April while Bryan Baker and Mason Miller combined for five saves in the title game, as many saves as Cory’s relievers had appearances for the week.

Cory’s Fireflies actually had the highest scoring offensive player -- Jordan Walker’s 12.75 was more than Kevin McGonigle’s 8.65 to lead the offensive charge for Rich’s Dredgers -- and the highest scoring pitcher -- Cade Cavalli outscored the Miz with an 11.70-point outing on Wednesday.

None of that mattered though as Rich’s balanced roster and strong depth carried his team and prevented Cory from becoming the AOA’s first three-time champ.
