For the first time in league history, I'm going to try and post regular updates for our fantasy baseball league.
Welcome, firstly, to Stephen April and Rich Blorstad! We've expanded from eight teams to ten for the 2024 season, which makes drafting that much more challenging because 40 more players came off the board than in any of our first three seasons.
Fantasy baseball is much more challenging to draft for than fantasy football. There are players with eligibility at multiple positions, which is a pretty rare occurance on the gridiron: think Ty Montgomery and, briefly, Taysom Hill. There are also many more positions to roster than there are in fantasy football.
Congratulations to our newcomers on getting through their first draft. I'm tapping fantasy pros for the responsibility of grading our drafts. I don't know how good these grades are, but they seem better than any other site I've looked into. Still, take these with a grain of salt and in the spirit in which they're intended.

As I mentioned, take some of the comments in here with a grain of salt. A lot of websites have difficulty accurately grading fantasy baseball drafts because of a wide range of scoring settings and league set-ups. These probably work better for a roto or categories league than a H2H points league like ours is.
In any case, we're just days away from opening day now and I hope everyone is excited to get under way.
I'll try to post something every week. For those in A Football Life, don't expect anywhere near the depth of analysis or statistical history as that league, but I'll hit the main points and post power rankings each week.
Finally, be sure to note a significant change to our scoring settings entering this season. If you have a pitcher with dual eligibility and you start him at SP, he will not be eligible to earn points for a save, hold, or inherited runner stranded. Only pitchers in an RP spot are eligible to get points for those. Of less consequence but still worth noting, players who are started in an RP spot will not be eligible to earn points for a quality start. This is to encourage people to use starting pitchers in SP spots and non-starters in RP spots.
If you notice that your opponent was able to go over the maximum 7 pitcher starts or 14 relief appearances, be sure to let me know before the next game begins so I can make the adjustment. It's on you to catch it.
Good luck this season!
