Players of the Week
Catcher - Adley Rutschman, 13.25 points (Stephen April)
1st Baseman - Bryce Harper, 10.50 points (Andrew Perez)
2nd Baseman - Marcus Semien, 12.50 points (Andrew Perez)
3rd Baseman - Jose Ramirez, 12.25 points (Stephen April)
Shortstop - Bobby Witt Jr, 11.75 points (Sean Kennedy)
OF - Aaron Judge, 25.75 points (Sam Martin)
UTIL - Marcell Ozuna, 6.50 points (Sam Martin) & Nick Castellanos, 6.50 points (Alex Mayo)
SP - Grayson Rodriguez, 24.50 points (Alex Mayo)
RP - Bryan Hudson, 12.25 points (Cory Puffett)
Jose Ramirez tied Austin Riley from the 2022 season as the second third baseman to lead the AOA in scoring for five consecutive weeks. Nobody has ever done it six straight times at any position.
Aaron Judge got back on top of the outfield list this week and set a new season-high for points at a single position by an offensive player in a week, breaking the previous high of 25.50 points by Mookie Betts at the UTIL position in Week 1.
Andrew Perez managed to have the highest scoring players at both first and second base this week despite scoring the fewest points in the league. In fact, it was Andrew's second lowest point total of the season and the third lowest total any team has managed in a matchup in 2024.
All-time H2H: Sean leads series 8-3
For the second week in a row, Tarik Skubal led Sean's Marauders in scoring. This week he got two starts and scored 22 points. His performances, plus Cory leaving a Sunday afternoon start by Shota Imanaga on his bench, helped Sean secure an 8-point pitching advantage in the matchup. This despite Cory having two more relief appearances in Week 10.
His offensive advantage was even more pronounced, thanks to higher batting average and OPS numbers on roughly 20 more plate appearances over the course of the week.
All-time H2H: Series tied 1-1
Despite Alex having the second highest scoring player this week in Grayson Rodriguez, Stephen got revenge for his Week 2 loss with a dominant week. Teoscar Hernandez went off in the Bronx with with three of his four Week 10 home runs coming on Saturday and Sunday. Half of Stephen's 18 home runs, tied for the third most in any 7-day matchup in league history, came from his Oriole contingent of Adley Rutschman (3), Ryan Mountcastle (3), Ryan O'Hearn (2), and Gunnar Henderson (1).
Thanks in large part to the impressive display of power from his lineup, he easily beat Alex even after only having a 1.5-point pitching advantage in the matchup.
All-time H2H: Series tied 1-1
Matt Waldron proved to be a solid pickup for Rich in Week 10. In his two starts, he scored 23.50 points, better than every starting pitcher in the AOA other than Grayson Rodriguez.
Unfortunately for Rich's Deep Hydro Dredgers, it wasn't enough to overcome another incredible week for Aaron Judge, who would be tied with Jose Ramirez and Austin Riley as the only players to ever lead a position in scoring for five straight weeks if it weren't for his teammate Juan Soto barely edging him out for the top outfielder score in Week 9. Seven of Judge' 10 hits in Week 10 went for extra bases and he drew seven walks while striking out only four times.
With none of Rich's batters reaching double digits, Judge almost singlehandedly allowed Sam to overcome a 2.25-point pitching deficit against his Week 10 opponent.
All-time H2H: Cory leads series 6-3
Andrew had the highest scorers at first base and second base this week, easily the highest team batting average, and the second highest team OPS, well ahead of the third highest.
None of that mattered as he had the fewest plate appearances (47 less than second lowest), offensive games played (32, 6 less than second fewest), and pitcher starts (3, 3 less than second fewest).
Cory took advantage of Andrew's lack of attentiveness, as well as strong weeks for George Kirby and recent pickup Bryan Hudson, to secure his third straight win as he pulls back to .500 on the year.
All-time H2H: Eric leads series 6-5
Things finally came together for Eric this week. After a mid-week resurgence in Week 9 came up just short against Stephen, Eric had the right mix of team success and opponent luck to capture his first win of the season. Leading the league in innings pitched certainly helped. He'd had either the fewest or second fewest innings pitched in six of the first eight weeks of the season. He also led the league in WHIP this week, which when mixed with his pitching volume is almost always going to lead to great things.
Led by Nathan Eovaldi, just the third 20-point scorer Eric has had this season, he was able to hand Evan his sixth straight loss. He's a long shot for the playoffs, but he has not been eliminated from wild card or even division contention just yet and some more weeks like this one could certainly add some intrigue to the second half of the regular season.
Game of the Week: Sean Kennedy vs Cory Frontin
Trailing by three quarters of a point entering the final day of the contest, Sean took advantage of the fact he had Tarik Skubal on the mound and Cory left a pitcher start on the bench in the form of Shota Imanaga.
As it turned out, a narrow 4-point offensive advantage for Sean on the final day of the matchup would have rendered Imanaga’s contribution moot, but it would have made for a much more exciting final day of Week 10.
